HistoryThe company came into effect in the year 1985 under the Indian Companies Act, 1956 bearing the name Visaka Asbestos Cements Products Limited. The name took a turn for the better bearing the new reference of Visaka Industries Ltd from 9th August 1998. The new name bearing much more impressive stamp enabled the company to diversify the company into another product category – Synthetic blended yarn. The company in early infancy was a joint promotion of APIDC and a band of energetic entrepreneurs Dr G Vivekanand, Mr G Vinod and Smt G V Kalavathi, its first venture was manufacture of Fibre Building Products. As on now the APIDC has divested its entire stake. Since those days the company seems to have come a long way and has earned for itself a fairly good name in both the products. The company manufactures two products – Building Products with an installed capacity of 72,000 MT, and Synthetic Blended Yarn with an installed capacity of 1,176 Air Jet Spinning Positions. The company manufactures Melange yarns, Grandrelle yarns, High Twist yarns and yarns with Lycra (used for stretch fabrics) and Polyester Viscose Blended Yarn. Its yarn products are used to manufacture suiting, shirting’s, curtains, embroidery laces, fashion fabrics and upholstery. Towards the manufacture of Building Products, the company gets raw materials in the form of Asbestos Fibre and Cement; the former is imported from Lab Crysotile INC., of Canada and Sama Fibres of Brazil. And the latter one is got from within the nation, that is, from companies like India Cements Ltd, Orient Cement and Rajashree Cements. On the technology front, the company makes use of the latest and the best of technology with consistent results in physical properties and strength. And this far outweighs the standards prescribed by the ISI (Indian Standards Institute) The Spinning Division gets its raw materials such as Polyester Staple Fibre from the world famous Reliance Industries Ltd, IPL, IOCL, Viscose Staple Fibre from Grasim Industries Ltd and South India Viscose Ltd. The installed Spinning Machines are based on the Air-Jet Spinning Technology, procured from Murata of Japan is installed to get the high-grade quality yarn products. The company has acquired the leadership tag of Air Jet Spinning in the world highest productivity and efficiency.
